He’s also earned money in both rounds of tie-down roping and leads the two-run average heading into the weekend’s third go-round – only the top 40 after two go-rounds qualify for the progressive round.

While he leads calf roping, Cooper and Bach squeaked into the progressive in team roping; they sit 40th.

Bray Armes, who grew up in nearby Gruver, Texas, leads the two-run aggregate in steer wrestling, grappling two animals in a cumulative time of 8.0 seconds. Chris Francis and Cade Passig are 14.1 on two runs to lead team roping.

The preliminary go-rounds will conclude Friday with barrel racing. The top 40 will return for the performances, set for 7:30 p.m. Friday; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday; and 2 p.m. Sunday.
